Nepal National Cricket Team Departs for CWC League 2 Tri-Series in Canada and USA

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has officially bid farewell to the Nepal National Cricket Team as they embark on their journey to Canada for the upcoming CWC League 2 Tri-Series. This marks Nepal’s second series in the competition, following their initial outing in February. After the Canadian leg, the team will continue their tour in the USA, where they will compete in another League 2 series.

In a farewell event organized by CAN in Kathmandu, it was revealed that Nepal will face off against Oman and Canada during the Canadian series. Additionally, a T20I tri-series is on the cards before the team heads to the USA for further CWC action. Secretary of CAN, Paras Khadka, confirmed that Nepal will also play a warm-up match against a strong Canada XI side before the main series kicks off.

Nepal’s first official match in the tri-series is scheduled for September 16 against Canada. After a rest day, the team will lock horns with Oman on September 18. The tri-series will then resume on September 22 when Nepal takes on Canada for the second time, followed by a rematch against Oman on September 24. All matches will take place in King City, Ontario, starting at 7:45 PM NST.

Jagat Tamata has been added to the squad as a consultant coach, providing additional expertise for Nepal’s campaign.

Team Nepal has not played any One Day Internationals (ODIs) for seven months, as they focused on T20 formats and took some time off. Their last ODI series, played in February on home soil, ended with three losses and just one victory against Namibia and the Netherlands.
